World Premiere: I'll Drown My Book

  • McDougall United Church, Edmonton (map)

An a cappella experience featuring the music of Victoria’s Requiem

Chronos Vocal Ensemble, led by Jordan Van Biert, concludes its 2018-19 Season with INTO LIGHT, offering a reflective a cappella experience that presents Renaissance and contemporary unaccompanied music together.

The 1603 Requiem by the famed Spanish composer Tomás Luis de Victoria will be featured alongside music of living composers from Canada, the United States, Britain and Norway. The Requiem movements, performed primarily by a small ensemble drawn from the choir, will be presented interspersed with contrasting music commenting on the Requiem theme.

The concert will also feature the world premiere a new commission: I’ll Drown My Book by Vancouver composer Kristopher Fulton, who will be in attendance.
